The Boat House, Cohasset, MA
It started as a place to store boats in the winter

Bemis Company CEO F. Gregg Bemis was a world class sailor and loved to race 30 foot racing boats called International 210's
(because of their 210 square feet of sail area). He needed a place to store his boats in the winter and also wanted a guest house
for his friends who visited him at the beach in the summer. So in 1956 the boathouse was built. Placed as close to the water as
possible, boats could be hauled directly from the ocean, up the beach, and into the boathouse through large sliding doors. During
the summer with the boats in the water, friends visited, neighborhood plays were organized and performed, and many family
gatherings and parties were held.
